Leading Partial Hospitalization Program in Atlanta, GA

The Summit Wellness Group has two facility locations in Georgia and has established itself as a leading Partial Hospitalization Program in Atlanta, Georgia, through its exceptional outpatient treatment programs.

Tailored specifically for adults aged 18 and older who suffer from mood disorders and other mental health challenges, this program offers a structured, intensive, and compassionate approach to care.

By blending evidence-based therapies, holistic practices, and individualized treatment plans, The Summit Wellness Group provides a comprehensive solution for men and women seeking recovery without the need for full-time inpatient care.

Overview of Our Partial Hospitalization Program

The Summit Wellness Group’s PHP is designed as an intermediate level of care, bridging the gap between inpatient hospitalization and traditional outpatient therapy. It caters to individuals who require intensive therapeutic support but can maintain their daily routines by returning home each evening.

Typically, clients participate in the PHP for 2-4 weeks, attending structured group sessions Monday through Friday, totaling approximately 30 hours of treatment per week.

This intensive schedule ensures robust clinical intervention while allowing clients to maintain connections with their personal lives.

It is ideal for those transitioning from residential treatment or those whose symptoms are too severe for standard outpatient care but do not necessitate 24-hour supervision.

Why PHP is Effective for Mental Health Treatment?

Partial Hospitalization Programs are highly effective for mental health treatment due to their intensive yet flexible structure. Unlike inpatient programs requiring 24-hour supervision, PHPs allow clients to maintain independence while receiving comprehensive care.

This balance is particularly beneficial for individuals who need significant clinical intervention but can safely return home each evening. PHPs provide a structured environment conducive to developing coping skills, managing symptoms, and preventing relapse.

The Summit Wellness Group’s PHP is particularly effective because it combines daily therapeutic engagement with individualized care. Clients participate in group therapy sessions, which foster peer support and accountability, while receiving one-on-one therapy to track personal progress and address specific needs.

The program’s emphasis on evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT ensures that clients acquire practical tools for managing their conditions.

At the same time, holistic practices like yoga and mindfulness enhance overall well-being. This multifaceted approach addresses immediate symptoms and equips clients with strategies for long-term recovery.

Moreover, PHP serves as an ideal transition for individuals stepping down from residential treatment or those whose symptoms require more support than traditional outpatient therapy can provide.

By offering 30 hours of weekly treatment, the program ensures intensive intervention without disrupting clients’ daily lives, making it a practical choice for professionals, parents, and others with significant responsibilities.

Key Features and Structure of Our PHP

Length of Stay and Daily Schedule

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) usually runs five days per week, Monday through Friday. The average length of treatment depends on the individual’s treatment needs and progress, but most people attend for two to four weeks.

Each day, we offer a structured schedule that typically starts in the morning and lasts through the afternoon. Time is divided between group therapy, individual therapy, medication management, and educational sessions. We also schedule breaks for meals, snacks, and self-care.

Some days include specialized activities like yoga or art therapy to support stress relief and self-expression. Depending on the care plan, nutrition education and brain mapping are available for those needing extra support. Our daily routine helps clients develop healthy habits for both mind and body.

Admission Criteria and Assessment

Admission begins with a thorough assessment by licensed clinicians. We look for specific requirements such as a need for structured therapy that is more intensive than traditional outpatient care but does not require overnight stays.

Medical detox services may be required before entering the program for those struggling with substance use.

Our clinical team checks for mental health diagnoses or substance use issues that meet the criteria for PHP. We gather information about current symptoms, medical history, risk of harm, and recent hospitalizations or treatments. This assessment helps us ensure the program matches the person’s needs and delivers the right level of care.

PHP Therapies Available at The Summit Wellness Group

Individual and group therapies are often the most vital piece of our intensive outpatient program in Atlanta, Georgia. With fewer hours to incorporate treatment, we want to make sure we utilize that time in the most effective way possible. Our programs often include:

Individual Therapy

You’ll be assigned one of our therapists (Master’s level or above) and meet at least one hour per week. During these one-on-one sessions, you’ll work with them to process underlying trauma and other issues fueling addiction. You’ll also create a personalized recovery plan, deal with ongoing issues related to your personal and professional life, and set aftercare goals.

Group Therapy

Each track of our intensive outpatient program features a different assortment of group therapy sessions. These process groups focus on core issues behind addiction, relapse prevention, accountability related to involvement in addiction support groups (12-Step and Non-12-Step), recovery tools, codependency, and more.

Family Therapy

Addiction is a disease that affects the entire family. That’s why we have a heavy emphasis on supporting the family. This includes on-site family therapy overseen by your individual therapist, as well as voluntary biweekly night sessions done on a group level.

Holistic Therapy

Our list of holistic rehab modalities offered to clients of our program includes massage, chiropractic care, guided meditation, yoga, adventure therapy, and nutritional classes.

Who Should Consider Our Partial Day Program?

PHP works well for people starting treatment who need support but can’t commit to inpatient care. Clients get a high level of help while still going home to their own beds at night.

Our program centers on individualized care. It usually fits best for people in a few situations.

Some folks are transitioning from a higher level of care. After finishing residential treatment, they can feel shocked by the return to daily life. Triggers that didn’t exist in a more controlled rehab setting suddenly pop up everywhere.

Others are trying treatment for the first time. Maybe they need help but can’t jump into inpatient or more restrictive programs.

There are also people who need extra support before stepping down. Sometimes, a week or two of PHP gives them the time and focus to stabilize before moving to IOP. It’s a bridge that helps our clients safely step down to outpatient care when they’re ready.

What People Have To Say About The Summit Wellness Group

Kendall G.

The summit has been a lifesaver for me. I have been to one other iop program, and I came into the first day worried that it wouldn’t be helpful, but oh my goodness, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The groups are incredible, and the friendships and support that I have are a game-changer. I would advise if anyone is looking for an IOP program or any other programs to come to the summit!!! I look forward to going there three times a week (something I thought I would never say), and I am so grateful to have the summit as a part of my recovery journey.

If you’re looking for a top-notch facility to meet your clinical or mental health needs Summit is the IOP for you! The staff and clients are like no other. Their holistic and therapeutic approach are undoubtedly world class. From entering the facility and being greeted by Bryson, who went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, to the therapists going out of their way to make sure my needs were being met. The clean environment and pristine facility is just the icing on the cake!

Lilly L.

I attended summit IOP in Midtown for three months and graduated a couple weeks ago. Summit Wellness center is the ONLY iop that has ever truly worked for me. I’ve been to countless treatment centers, IOP programs, Inpatient Treatments and sober living houses, and out of everything I’ve tried I highly recommend Summit above all. The staff here truly cares about all the clients and it shows. They were so helpful with every area of my life. They truly helped me figure out so many things when I felt helpless, lost and broken when I arrived.

Our Other Midtown Atlanta Mental Health Treatment Programs

Aside from our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), we offer a full continuum that includes an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as well as standard Outpatient Treatment (OP), ensuring that every client receives the precise level of support required at each step.

Once a client has made substantial progress in PHP, transitioning to the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a natural and well-orchestrated next step. IOP provides a balanced approach to treatment with a flexible schedule that usually encompasses 9 to 15 hours of therapy per week.

The program is curated to integrate both therapeutic and holistic modalities while accommodating everyday responsibilities—whether those be work, school, or family obligations. IOP reinforces the skills built during PHP and gently adapts clients to the idea of increased independence as they progress further in their recovery journey.

Following IOP, standard Outpatient Treatment (OP) serves as a long-term maintenance step. In this phase, clients typically engage in around three hours of therapy per week, focusing on relapse prevention, aftercare support, and ongoing skill development.

Though OP is the final formal stage of our structured treatment, clients are strongly encouraged to maintain contact with our aftercare and support programs. These are designed to promote long-lasting wellness and provide community-based encouragement as individuals re-integrate into their daily lives.
