The inpatient program is termed “Fully Integrated” which means that treatment will incorporate multiple types of care including therapy and counseling for trauma, co-occurring mental issues, and addiction.
What to Expect at This Detox
The detox program is medically supervised meaning that you will be under 24 hour care by a team of nurses and doctors to ensure that you undergo detox in the safest way possible. The exact length of time will vary depending on what you are detoxing from as well as the severity of withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing. One item of note is that they do not use Suboxone or Subutex for opiate detox. You will be free to join group counseling sessions during your time in detox if you like, but this is not required.
The inpatient treatment schedule at Twin Lakes is very structured. You will wake up between 6-7am every day and go to have your vitals taken and go to breakfast. Around 8 you will have morning meditation followed by gender separated studies, either therapy or Big Book study groups. From 10:30am until 12:00pm is small group therapy. You will also see a therapist at least 1 time per week for individual therapy, but this may be more than once per week as your needs require. Noon is lunch time followed by group therapy from 12:50pm to 1:50pm, except on Monday and Thursday this will be life skills classes. Likewise on Tuesday this time will be an outside 12 Step meeting brought onsite by volunteers. From 2:00pm to 3:00pm is a recovery and aftercare planning group where you will discuss and plan for treatment after inpatient. This may involve intensive outpatient or sober living depending on your needs. Wellness time will be from 3:00pm to 4:00pm and will involve a variety of physical activities including running, basketball, or yoga. From 4:00pm to 6:00pm is another round of gender separated groups followed by dinner at 6:00pm. Finally, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm is either an Alcoholics Anonymous or a Narcotics Anonymous meeting (they alternate days).
After your fist week, you will be eligible for phone calls, followed by visitation shortly after. You will not be allowed to bring your phone or any electronics into the program with you. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday you will meet with a psychiatric nurse practitioner for medication management and adjustment. Something unique to Twin Lakes is that they have 2 miniature cows on site that act as therapy aids.
Detox Completion
Twin Lakes (Monroe) is specifically for detox and inpatient treatment over the course of 30 days. For continuing treatment after inpatient, they have 2 additional outpatient treatment facilities in Athens and Gainesville.
