The staff can assist in finding an outpatient program to enter upon discharge from the CSP program.
Detox Admission Process
To enter this Atlanta detox program, you will first need to meet with a nurse practitioner and be evaluated. Walk-ins are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it is recommended (but not required) to have a photo ID and to bring several days worth of clothes. What to Expect at This Free Georgia Detox
The Crisis Stabilization Program is intended to help you to go through the withdrawal process in a medically supervised way where the risks to your health are minimized as much as possible. Also included is a psychiatric stabilization unit as many people who are struggling with addiction also have a co-occuring mental disorder, or depending on your drug of choice, can have emergent symptoms which resemble a mental disorder. Both of these are intended to assist you through withdrawal/crisis and connect you to further treatment in the form of outpatient treatment , transitional living, or a homeless shelter depending on your situation.
Detox Completion
Upon discharge from this free Georgia detox facility, it is highly recommended that you continue treatment in an outpatient treatment or inpatient treatment program of some sort. If you are a male over 18 years old, you are able to continue care at the New Start Men’s Program, which is a men’s transitional housing unit and drug and alcohol treatment center located near the Crisis Center. Their phone number is 678-398-7666. It is intended for continuation of treatment for men just being discharged from the Crisis Stabilization Program (or those that have been discharged within the last 12 months). If you are not a male, or are under 18, the staff will be able to make recommendations and offer assistance in connecting you with recovery services in the area, such as the Cobb Outpatient Services located just down the road, but it is going to be up to you to follow through and make the commitment.

Free Atlanta, GA Detox Centers (No Insurance / Financial Resources)
When the obsession to drink and use overrides all other priorities in you life, loss of employment and the health insurance that came with it is not uncommon. Also, your assets tend to get liquidated irresponsibly, commensurate with the chaotic and destructive behavior that is characteristic of addiction. This may occur to the point where you are facing homelessness and hunger – yet in need of addiction treatment. Unfortunately it’s hard to find any legitimate information online about free Georgia detox centers.
All of the following options accept people with no insurance and no financial resources. This is in addition to St. Jude and GRAN Recovery, which offer drug and alcohol detox services as part of their overall addiction treatment programs. and are profiled in our accompanying Atlanta, Georgia rehab guide.

Grady Memorial Hospital
Services: Acute Alcohol Detox, Acute Drug Detox
Area: Downtown Atlanta
Contact: 404-489-2014
Grady Hospital is a non-profit hospital and trauma center which is primarily funded by Fulton and Dekalb counties. It serves the entire metro area population, particularly people who are uninsured or underinsured. The hospital has been around for over 120 years and is located at 80 Jesse Hill Jr Drive SE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Their emergency room and admissions desk are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This free Atlanta drug and alcohol detox facility will assist in medical stabilization only. This is for severe or life-threatening withdrawal symptoms from drugs or alcohol and minor withdrawal symptoms will be referred elsewhere. After the detox withdrawal process is complete (the time for which can vary greatly depending on the drug you were addicted to and the amount/length of use) and your condition has been mitigated to a non-life-threatening state, they will refer you to any number of local programs for further drug and alcohol rehab treatment. Grady is definitely one of the leading free Georgia detox facilities for acute withdrawal.
Detox Admission Process
While not strictly necessary, it is strongly recommended to apply for a “Grady Card”. This is not an actual card, but rather the name they have given to their financial assistance program. You can call them and request to speak to the scheduling department to set up a financial aid interview. The interviews themselves are about 20 minutes long and you will need to be a Fulton or Dekalb county resident to be eligible. You will need a proof of address, a state ID, social security card, proof of income (your last 2 pay stubs), or if unemployed you will need a Department of Labor statement of unemployment document. Once the Grady Card is obtained, the funds should be in your account immediately and you can begin admission into the ER for detox the same day. Note that every person will be responsible for a co-pay at the time of service, but this is determined on a sliding scale, so co-pays will vary greatly between individuals. Admission to the ER is very simple; you just walk in and explain your situation. They should have you in a bed the same day.
What to Expect at This Free Atlanta Detox
This is a medically supervised acute detox only, so you will be monitored 24/7 by the staff. Medication will be administered as is necessary and you will probably spend your time bedridden, as acute detox is very unpleasant. You will be kept for as long as is necessary to pass through the potentially lethal phase of acute detox which can last anywhere from 2 days to as long as a week depending on your past using habits.
Detox Completion
Since Grady is intended for emergency situations only, you will be discharged as soon as your condition is stable. There are several recovery programs in the area surrounding Grady, and they will make referrals to whichever program best suits your needs.

Although it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it’s only possible to contact them from 9:00am until 5:00pm. This facility does accept insurance and self-pay clients, but it should be noted that if you do not have insurance, you will not be accepted unless alcohol is included as an addiction. This includes individual therapy with a psychiatrist, group therapy which is divided by age and gender, mental health and addiction counseling classes, and IOP (Intensive Outpaitent) treatment.
Detox Admission Process
The first step will be to call and make an appointment. Newport does accept walk-ins Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 10:00am. There are a few prerequisites for walk-in admission. You will need to be in, or very near drug or alcohol withdrawal, be non-violent and a voluntary applicant, and be medically stable (no life threatening conditions, other than withdrawal). You will first need to go undergo an assessment with a treatment team which is led by a Board Certified Psychiatrist. This will determine your needs and recommend a placement in a variety of programs.
What to Expect at This Free Atlanta Detox
Once admitted, you will be paired with a case manager and they will act as a treatment coordinator for the rest of your time here, ensuring that the treatment you receive has been and continues to be effective. First step will be the residential detox program, which can last anywhere from 5 to 7 days depending on your drug of choice and using history. While in detox, you will be required to go to group counseling sessions 7 days per week. Once discharged from detox, you will be free to return home and to join the Intensive Outpatient program. This program is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30am until 1:30pm followed by individual therapy sessions with a psychiatrist. Again, this program will last as long as it needs to for your own specific needs. After the IOP program has concluded for you, you may choose to continue with day treatment, which involves group therapy 3 times a week and meeting a counselor once per week. This may be continued as long as you find it useful.
Detox Completion
During the end of your time in detox, your case manager will begin working with you to develop a discharge plan. This will be a road map for you to follow after you are discharged and will involve 12 Step meetings and possible continuation of treatment with therapy, either at Newport or elsewhere. This facility is JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals) accredited, so if you were court ordered to attend a rehab by a court, then this should satisfy the court. It is recommended to check with the judge or your probation/parole officer if they will accept this before you seek entry.
